Devils in disguise

She was loved and protected,

by her parents,

always.

They taught her 

kindness and humility 

and the wonders of the world,

in beautiful colors.

She was nurtured, 

about the goodness and morality,

forever.

She believed,

strangers would be as warm as her mother,

and would safeguard her like her father.

She was given wings to fly,

up and high,

always,

and the strength 

to dive right into the wild.

Naive and innocent soul,

left her cozy nest, 

She bade a goodbye,

to finally explore herself. 

Little did she know,

the angels she met,

and the aliens she befriended,

were the merciless beasts

instead,

eagerly waiting to clench,

and rip her off into thousand pieces.

Every time she picked herself up,

and walked miles away from them,

she’d encounter a new devil in disguise,

who tried to sabotage her confidence.

Every time she was threatened,

manipulated, thrashed or put down,

she’d roar and rise from the ground,

and though she be but little,

she is fierce,

to fight all the odds 

against the devils she’d encounter

She’d roar and rise from the ground,

against all the devils she’d encounter!! 

((P.S. this is highly inspired from the Shakespeare line “and though she be but little, she is fierce” which has been included in the writing as well!!))
