Veere Di Wedding
(Spoiler Alert: I enjoyed the movie so much that I didn't feel like taking my a** off the seat even after the movie ended).
The moment I watched the trailer of the movie, I knew I had to watch this movie on the FIRST DAY itself and I did it!! Well, I know it's not something to be proud of, but it was definitely worth the first day show.
It's a movie that embarks the life story of 4 friends: Kalindi, Avni, Sakshi and Meera and of them I could very much relate to Kalindi and Avni's life.
Kalindi is from a liberal but broken family and she doesn't believe in marriage but when Rishab (Sishu) proposes her, she accepts it. Then, starts the reunion of friends after 10 years. The lives of 4 friends have changed since their high school but they're still the "BFFs". Each of them has their own story to say which builds up the beautiful screenplay of the movie.
Avni is in her 30 and a divorce lawyer, and, her mom is desperate to get her married (just as mine). Avni's mom wants her to meet different men of various shades everyday & Avni readily goes and sees them without any question. She is successful in her career but just like our society wants she feels she needs a man to complete her journey of life. And then she speaks the bitter truth as she says, other things (your education & career) don't matter unless you get married. Don't you think this resembles your life? Well, it surely does mine!!
On one hand, Avni believes in getting married and having a family and kids but she doesn't feel she is ready for marriage. This is surely my life these days!!
Kalindi wants a simple and small wedding but a grand marriage. This is my motto as well; "I don't want a great wedding but, I want a great marriage". She feels suffocated with all those extravagant ceremonies and celebrations. New people, new family, new relationships but fake smile!! This is what I'm scared of as well. Living free but drunk and emotional dialing is what she did which almost brought tear to my eyes because I've experienced this as well.
If my ratings would matter, I'd give 5 stars to this movie. It has every bit of a Bollywood movie i.e. comedy, emotions, drama, glamour and few breaking of stereotypes like Sakshi is seen drinking & smoking most of the time, the abusive words spoken by girls etc etc. We all were so engaged in the first half that we were all "Ohhh NO!!" when there was intermission. The movie moves so fast that you won't get bored and will always look forward to the next scene in the movie.
Thank you for making this movie and taking such a topic which I was so much empathetic towards.
#Allsmiles
(P.S. I'm not a movie reviewer)
