A ride with hands and fingers
Just imagine a day, when people around you are chatting and you feel left out because you won't be able to get what the thing is about. Just imagine a day, when you can not utter a single word to express your feeling. Imagine a morning in spring when you can't hear the birds chirping or the winter night when the wolves howl. Have you ever given a thought about it?
I'd never pondered about it too, until I saw something amazing today. Amidst the packed bus with passengers, there were two people communicating with their hands in the last seat. Then I thought, isn't it an art to express yourself with your fingers and hands? What if, I had to wait for gestures or read the lips of the speaker to know what is going on in the other person's head. Would that be easy for me?
You go to temple and you can't hear the sound of the bells ringing or you try to cross the road but can't hear the horn that tries to indicate you to get off the road. Well, that's a relief that you don't need to hear the noise or the unnecessary talks but it must be equally awful as you can't even hear a sound!
I would go nuts, if I had to live such life, where I would never know about music and rhythms or I would just had to feel the gust of wind rather than hear it roar.
And this made me think more. Like we have alphabets, that make words so we can make conversations; they must have hand movement for each word. Don't their hands get tired, like our mouth does when we talk a lot. Or are they able to make everything crystal clear to everyone, because sometimes even we run out of words to express our feelings.
One of them had even carried a mobile phone and when it rang, he gave it to his seat mate to answer the call. Not everyone will always be around to answer their call. What will they do in such cases? May be SMS would be an alternative for this.
But that didn't affect them at all. I saw them cheerful and happy on their own. They least cared about others or whatever was going on in that bus. They continued their hands and fingers movement until they got off the bus at Baagbazar. I found them content and joyful. At least the smile on their face depicted so. :)
